Yesterday Google released their first note taking app called Keep in the Play Store. Unfortunately like other Google apps, Keep is not available on the Kindle Fire. In order to get it you would need to root your Kindle Fire and sideload the apps. That’s sometimes more than people are willing to do. So today we cover some of the top note taking apps that are available on the Kindle Fire from the Amazon Appstore.
1. Evernote
To export all notes: Tap Settings at the bottom of the Sidebar, then Import & Export, then Export All Notes. To export a single note: Tap the ⓘ in the upper right of a note, then check the format options at the bottom. To export multiple notes: In the Note List, hold Shift to select a range of notes or hold Command to select individual. To get them out of the Kindle app, click “ Edit Notes “. In the top left hand corner, it will say “ Select All “. Assuming you want ALL the notes out, click “Select All ” and every note gets a tick next to it. Otherwise, click “Select All” then go down the list and untick the ones you don’t want exported. When you highlight or note a Kindle-purchased book on any Kindle device app, those annotations are automatically synced with Amazon's cloud. These are then visible at read.amazon.com, but there is no reason to believe that Amazon will continue to provide this service forever, and our ability to work with text in that hosted browser-based. Download Kindle app for iOS. On your iPad or iPhone, go to the App Store – the app with all applications available for the iOS (iOS is an operating system of the iPad and iPhone). Use the search feature to find the Kindle app. Tap “Get” button, and wait until the download is complete (see screenshot above, on the left). Is there a way to extract/export my notes and highlighted passages from books on a Kindle or in one of the Kindle reader apps? I primarily use the iOS apps and tend to mark up books heavily as I go, particularly for passages I might later quote in a blog post or tweet.
Evernote is by far one of the best and most popular note taking apps on Android and the web. It’s for good reasons since you can do so much with Evernote. The app lets you take any type of notes and you can attach audio, video, images, and files. You can organize notes by folders and everything is searchable. The app has a great new design with cards stacks that lets you easily move between notes and notebooks. Another great function is the sync across all devices including the web version. Basically you can have access to your notes anywhere and anytime. There is also a Chrome plugin that let’s you clip anything from the web to your notes. If you are serious about note taking then this is a must have app.

2. ColorNote Notepad Notes
Sometimes we are looking for simplicity and something that’s very familiar. Most of us have used the traditional color sticky notes that end up on documents, paper, and fridges as a reminder. The ColorNote app tries to bring some of that old familiarity in new digital age. You can create simple color notes with the addition of to-do and checklist note formats. Although there is no sync capabilities, notes can be shared via e-mail or social network. There is also note reminders in status bar as well. Great options for those looking for a simple but effective note reminds.

3. Handrite Notes Notepad Pro
There are cases where type written notes just won’t do it and you need handwritten notes. One of the better apps for handwritten notes is definitely Handrite Notes. In this app you can take handwritten notes using your hand or stylus. I would highly recommend a stylus if you want to take good notes. But you can mix type written notes with the handwritten notes as well. There are tons of options for paper background, color, line width, and more. There are options to share your notes as image files with email, Evernote, or any app on your device. You can take a look at a video of the app in action here.

4. TypeLine HD
TypeLine HD has been designed from scratch for Kindle Fire devices with Kindle book interface. This is a simple note taking app designed for to-do lists and tasks. All your notes are on a single pages and organized by columns. You can create very nice lists and bullet point lists. Simple and great for daily task organization.

5. GNote – Note Everything
GNote app is in the style of Evernote in that it will let you take many type of notes. You can have simple notes but add images, audio, video, and more. You can even take handwritten notes as well as this app does it all. But the main feature that makes this app different is that it sync with your Gmail account. Once you setup your account then all your notes will sync under the label ‘Notes” in your Gamil account. This is a great option who are heavy Gmail users and want their notes along with their email.

Your Kindle highlights and notes are now available on the phone or tablet
So far, if you wanted to access on the web the highlights and notes you made while reading an ebook on a Kindle, Fire, or in a Kindle app, you opened a dedicated Amazon service at kindle.amazon.com.

If you’ve ever used the service, you know it was not just a list of all your highlights and notes. It was designed to be a book discovery tool, based on what other users were highlighting (Popular Highlights, remember?).
Obviously, the book discovery component made the service complicated, while all you wanted was to copy the passage of a text.
These days are over. Good E-reader reports Amazon is sending out an email to customers, informing that Kindle highlights have the new homepage.
It’s probably the same information you’ll see when you access your Kindle notes and highlights at the old web address:
New and Improved Home for Kindle Notes and Highlights
Hello there! We have good news. Customers have been asking for more ways to access Kindle notes and highlights, and we now have a new and improved experience at read.amazon.com/kp/notebook. It’s designed for easy reading on your phone and tablet, so you can access your notes and highlights wherever you are.
As you see, the entire change was made to let you easily access your Kindle highlights and notes on the phone or tablet, using the mobile browser, for instance, Safari on the iPad or Chrome on the Android smartphone.
When you enter the new homepage, you’ll see the list of all books you’ve made highlights and notes. After tapping a single title, you will see all your notes and highlights from this publication, together with the highlight colors attached to each marked passage of text.
The list of options is limited to “Add note” and “Delete highlight” but I hope new features will come soon, for instance, the option to export all highlights from a single publication.
The switch from the old to new Kindle highlights system also means that the book discovery part of the service will be gone.
Maybe Amazon is thinking about finding another place for it. Maybe its end is definitive.
I think it’s the second route. When it comes to the book discovery, Amazon has now a more convincing and useful tool than exploring Kindle highlights of the others. It’s Amazon Charts – weekly Kindle bestsellers lists based not only on sales, but also reading stats.
You will be able to access the old system until July 3, 2017. After this date, the old system won’t be available. Most probably, when you enter it, you will be redirected to the new homepage of Kindle notes and highlights.
