Apple's latest desktop software, macOS Sierra, is only officially supported on Macs from late-2009 and up. But there are some ways to install the new OS on older devices. Here's the hack you. This usually occurs on machines that support High Sierra (macOS 10.13) natively, but whose owners have not installed High Sierra on them previously. Installing High Sierra on these machines will update the machine's system firmware, allowing it to boot from an APFS volume. This is necessary in order to boot Catalina.

Personally, I did it on my Mac Pro ’08 (MacPro3,1), which officially supports only OS X 10.11 „El Capitan“. With the „macOS High Sierra Patcher“ I managed to install the latest macOS (10.13). Now I have Siri and many other new features on this computer. The usage is still very good.
